WEEK 9 Color Theory & Psychology in Graphics, Color Wheel Basics, and Mini Challenge (29 MAY 2026)
During this online Computer Graphic Design class, I learned about Color Theory and Psychology in Graphics. The lecturer explained how colors influence emotions, perceptions and user responses in design. For example, blue is often associated with trust and professionalism, while red represents energy, passion and excitement. Understanding color psychology helps designers create more effective and meaningful visual communication.
We also studied the Color Wheel Basics, including primary, secondary and tertiary colors. The lesson covered different color harmonies such as complementary, analogous and triadic color schemes. These concepts are important for creating balanced and visually appealing designs.
As part of the class activity, we participated in a Mini Challenge. We explored color palette websites, such as Coolors, to find inspiration and create our own color palette consisting of 4–5 colors based on a selected theme. After completing the palette, we shared our work with the class and discussed the color choices and their intended aesthetic effects.
This activity improved my understanding of color relationships and strengthened my ability to select suitable color combinations for future graphic design projects. It also enhanced my creativity and confidence in applying color theory to real design work.
